We all need a launching pad

I was clearing some material from around my desk recently and I found a note from John Fabrin, friend and CEO for the Rhema Broadcasting Group in New Zealand. At a past conference John had grabbed a piece of paper and written the words "The Message - Ephesians 1:11 - It’s Cool!" And he’s right. This note from John has been stuck on my whiteboard for a long time, reminding me of its very special content. Let me show you what I mean.

It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone. Ephesians 1:11 (The Message)

You can read the whole amazing chapter of Ephesians 1 at www.biblegateway.com

I love the background, present impact and future hope of this verse. Here we find that even before we contemplated our position in life. God had a plan for us. Bringing that to bear he desires that we be experiencing ‘glorious living’. I’m into that. But it doesn’t stop there. We find that by knowing why we were created, we can take the ‘for’ out of this verse and use it for giving life ‘hope’ and a reason to turn up tomorrow.
