Passions change and ideals can too but sometimes what we live for is a mixture of tempered desire and values based on experience. What I previously lived for could have been bought but what I live for today can only be acquired through grace, generosity and time.
Now my family is a strong area of both concern and love. I live for my children to be living safe and experiencing life fully. I live for my wife to know a secure loving family where her beauty and value is appreciated and not just talked about. I live for a future generation where a Grandfather means a soft lap not a hard scowl.
In my dreams I live to take ministry and the Gospel beyond new frontiers. I see opportunity we couldn't dream of and freedom unexpected. The concerns to be overcome are fear and tradition that we didn't think we would have an open door to share the truth of life in Christ Jesus, forgiveness from the Father and peace through the Holy Spirit. Its a unique day and one to press in to.
We all want to hear the words 'well done thou good and faithful servant'. The best way to measure those days that statement would be based around are in the occasions of the heart with people on the journey. Whether it is work mates, school friends, family or acquaintances it will be the people who anchor our memories. These days I may struggle with some names but the faces quickly take me back to a tender moment or celebration of life that brings every moment into context. We seek to bring discipline to our own lives by obedient to God's Word while hoping to pass on the hard earned experiences we have fought for. We want to be obedient to the call and to celebrate the life we've been given. See every flower appreciate every drop of forgiveness and 'Share the Love'.
I live for a day when I can look back on a life undeserved but richly lived.
In that day I hope there is a room with a view of the surging ocean. That room would have its open window breathing in the salt sea spray to an office with a writing desk.
