Kindergarten Life Skills
A long time ago I found this piece on life skills for kindergarten and the office. It was funny but true in so many ways. Isn’t it sad how our maturity and wisdom don’t also grow in terms of overcoming selfishness and insecurity. Doing a ‘google’ on it I found it was previously written by Robert Fulghum. His book by the same title dominated the New York Times best seller list in 1989 and through much of 1990. All I Ever Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten by Robert Fulghum Most of what I really need to know about how to live, and what to do, and how to be, I learned in...
Read MoreHe sure know’s his Bible
This story was emailed to me by my friend Mandy Worby. It is an absolute laugh but keeps you on your toes to think about the serious nature of this story. A young seminary graduate was seeking to pastor his first church. One pulpit committee requested an interview. As the student and the committee gathered together, the chairman began the questioning. “Young man, do you know your Bible?” The young man replied, “Yes sir. I know the Bible from front to back.” Another asked, “Do you know the stories and parables?” The candidate answered, “Oh yes! I know all the stories and...

Sometimes you have to sit back and laugh at the madness of humanity. You can put it down to those traffic lights that don’t change or simply another senior moment but to survive you have to laugh. One day it might be you who thinks the last funny President of the United States was Edmund W. Bush. The Fridge Some guy bought a new fridge for his house. To get rid of his old fridge, he put it in his front yard and hung a sign on it saying: "Free to good home. You want it, you take it." For three days the fridge sat there without even one person looking...

In a closely fought match the Kiwis took on the Aussies and a rogue Canadian for the Tim Tam Slam world championships. With the famous Trans Tasman Tim Tam Bledisloe Cup in my sights I was determined to suck my way to victory. Even the All Black tradition on the Haka has been brought into this moment of national pride. This was a great fun moment from our RDS summit at CVC in Maroochydoore. Thanks to Mark Taylor for such a wonderful job bringing his video recording to life with this creative edit. Mark has quoted Richard Daniel on his blog as saying; I have forwarded this to our director and...
Read MoreItalian Opera over Pasta
Last night we had a wonderful meal at La Bella Roma on Sixth Avenue, Maroochydore. The team from CVC and all our guests had a wonderful night of networking with pizza and pasta but the night took a turn when Shaun stepped up to the plate. Greg Ambroisine had noticed the Karaoke machine in the restaurant and had casually mentioned he would pay $10 to the first person to sing for their supper. Unbeknown to Greg, Shaun had heard the conversation and decided to offer his services. Leaving the Karaoke machine to gather dust in the corner, Shaun launched into a stirring performance that captured...
