The Box – Hand written memories!

Ever lost something so special but couldn’t even remember how it went missing. What if it contained your memories? What would you pay to get your hands on the memories of the past. My memory is a specialised filing system, and so is my wife’s. For me, numbers, websites, passwords, and things of this nature come easily. But ask me what year we went to the ‘that’ beach for a holiday and I’m stuffed. My wife can’t remember the password to her email account but if you ask who gave us that set of glasses for our wedding or what she made for dinner at the youth group camp, she will be...

Wedding Vows Forever

It’s often overlooked but Marriage isn’t a contract, its a covenant. If you are considering “tying the knot” with the ‘hunk’ or the ‘babe’ then take a moment to ask yourself is this for ‘convenience’ or ‘covenant’? Many enter into marriage particularly based on ‘young love’ for ‘the benefits’. The longer I’m married I realise the benefits are on the end of giving not taking. Accountability, the Heart Check-up

I recently came across a piece of paper from a friend in Hamilton, New Zealand. When I first got involved with Radio Rhema he challenged me to meet with him and walk through these questions. I believe they are a variant of seven questions Chuck Colson went through with his team when he formed Prison Fellowship. Its fair to say I haven’t been using these questions for over ten years and yet when I look at them they are questions I ask myself on a regular basis. I feel they are healthy spiritual check-up. Zig ZIglar would say we need a check-up from the neck-up… ie. get your head straight....

Parents & Sex

I’ve just finished reading through some books on sex and dating from a series by Hungry Planet. Also in there amongst these newly found guides was a book from another publisher by Matthew Paul Turner. What has impressed me as a Dad with four kids from 8 (and 3/4) to 16 is how brilliantly all of these authors have communicated the key information and kept the message ‘on song’. I was looking for some resources to help Mum & Dad as well as our growing adults and these books deliver. Haley & Michael DiMarco from Hungry Planet handled some great material on dating...

Watch out Darth Tater

Last weekend we had a great day out at ‘Supernova 2008′. Its a crazy wonderful convention that had the old comic heroes of Marvel and DC like Spidey and Superman. Mixed in were the techno heroes of Star Trek and Star Wars and the new frontier of Anime and Manga artists bringing us the lives of Naruto and friends. Into all of this was poured the fandom of South East Queensland. Whether it was the teens of today or the Trekkies of yesteryear. You can also throw in an appearance by Lou Ferringo, the former Incredible HUlk from the Bill Bixby TV series and Michael Winslow, Mr Sound...
